Book & A Movie: It’s Not Summer Without You + Gone With the Wind

SPOILER ALERT!!! Our hunky Conrad has kept Belly on the line. I don’t think he is intentionally stringing her along, but we haven’t slayed the demon that lies within yet. But Belly is there for him accepting the crumbs. Finally the angels rejoice and Jeremiah gets his kiss. Of course, Conrad has to interrupt and Belly chases him. He confronts her about the kiss and the infinity necklace she is wearing. He bought it for her, but never gave it.

That’s when I finally got it. I finally understood. It wasn’t the thought that counted. It was the actual execution that mattered, the showing up for somebody. The intent behind it wasn’t enough. Not for me. Not anymore. It wasn’t enough to know that deep down, he loved me. You had to actually say it to somebody, show them that you cared. And he didn’t. Not enough. –pg. 263

I release you. I evict you from my heart. Because if I don’t do it now, I never will. –pg. 273

Heart break & Heart victory all in one moment. This reminded me of one of the most epic movies and movie lines of all time. Rhett Butler loves Scarlett and loves her despite her flaws. He accepts the scraps she gives him when she isn’t chasing Ashley. But eventually that just isn’t enough. He doesn’t love her any less, but just deserves more.

  1. I think I’m hte last person on earth who has neither read, nor seen Gone with the Wind. I definitely need to rectify that.
