bookgoonie’s World
- Sorry I missed last week. We were in Plano for a Soccer Tournament that consumed me entirely. I didn’t even get to pick up a book or audiobook. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. We had 2 tire issues. Not fun, but could have been way worse. I still don’t think me and my family has recovered.
- Teaching and chauffeuring is whats on tap most of the time. I’ve been so exhausted when I get to sit down that I’m not getting anything read. I think I’ve finished 1 book it the last 2 weeks. No bueno. My soul needs fiction to recharge. I hope this week smooths out. NOT.
- I had a CT Scan last week. It made my pocketbook cry. The last 2 times I tried to workout I was met with blasting, pounding, skull-splitting headaches. They say my CT Scan was normal. Jokes on them. I still haven’t been able to shake it. My workout life is on hold and it is affecting me. Sucktards.

- Like I said earlier, I’ve only been able to finish one book. My Life as a White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland. It is fun and I just love Angel. I needed her this week and she came through. She offered me some perspective. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
- Still Reading…Goliath by Scott Westerfeld. It is good, but I just can’t make headway in it. I do like that it is bringing Mexico and Yellow Journalism into the WWI fray.
- Still Listening to…Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel. It’s pretty good, but has a lot going on. I just can’t seem to get the darn thing finished.

- Won: My Life as a White Trash Zombie & Even White Trash Zombies get the Blues by Diana Rowland from Felicia @ Geeky Blogger’s Book Blog for Mystery Week
- Half-Price Book Buys: Forever by Judy Blume for Banned Book Week and Touched by an Alien & Alien Tango by Gini Koch. I’ve been stalking these books for a while. Smash & Amanda joint reviewed the 4th in the series. I so did the happy dance when I found these books on the shelf.

Eep. The headache induced workout does NOT sound good.
Glad you enjoyed White Trash Zombies! It really is a great series.
The headache is a real pain. The CT Scan tapped out my $, so I have to save up before I can try something else like a chiropractor. My insurance doesn’t really pay anything till I meet a $4000 deductible. I hope it doesn’t go that far.
As you can see, Angel really helped lift my spirits.
I totally forgot about Unbreaking the Shelves! Shit. Organizing that list has me wicked scared. Maybe I should do it today.
Sorry about your headaches. I hope you figure it out soon and get it taken care of. I’ve been plagued with headaches my entire life, but luckily, not migraines. I wake up with them daily. Boo on head pain!
I still need to met Angel and her white trash zombie life!
I’ve been fortunate in the headache department till now. Now I understand. Sucks big time.
You’ll love Angel. She rocks the Zombie Life.
Perhaps your headache is psychosomatic. As in, you don’t want to work out, so your mind has created serious pain to keep you from doing it. That, or you just secretly really, really wanted to get in one of those CT scan thingies that they have on all the major medical dramas. Oh, wait…that one’s me.
Just kidding. Headaches suck! I get them occasionally, but not when I do specific activities. I have friends who swear by the chiropractor in order to help, though. I’m still in the “it’ll sever my spinal chord!” frame of mind re: chiropractors, but they seem to work for a lot of people.
As I remember it, Goliath took some time to get into. It was the ending that I would’ve liked to see for the series, but Scott Westerfeld usually delivers.
Are you going to go to see Neal Shusterman at the Austen Teen Book Festival? If so, I’m jealous!
Goliath is good. I think my fatigue is keeping from getting some solid seat time in. I really love his creativity & vision on this alternative history. I <3 WWI.
I'm sure my subconscious is aiding in my workout sabotage.
*fingers crossed* that my car will hold together for the drive down to Austin. I haven't read Mr Shusterman but looking forward to getting in at least one in advance of the trip.
You have to read Unwind! I imagine that N.S. is at the festival promoting the sequel, Unwholly. I’m so excited about it!
Neil Gaiman! YES! Also, I’m so glad you enjoyed Angel and her zombie antics. I kinda loved that book. I made me happy!
I <3 Angel. Can't wait to find out what is giving her the blues.
Just reading this…feel better! I hate to hear about the headaches. Maybe try some light yoga? You can stream it from amazon for cheap. Stretching and meditation help when hard core working out produces aches and pains! In any case I’ll be thinking about you
You are sweetness. Need to try the yoga, but it is so hard to get motivated to do it at the house.
