Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
Top Ten 2013 Bookish Goals…
TBR Pile. Have fewer books in my Goodreads To-Read Queue at the end of 2103 than I started with. I have 235 Physical Books, 64 Ebooks, 190 Free Reads, and 3 Review Books as of today.
Book Buying. I am not instituting a ban, because why set myself up for failure right off the bat. I do plan on being very purposeful in my purchases and not get baited into every good deal.
Library. I use the library for Ebooks and Audiobooks, but I am also going to try to use the Request services for physical books also. I don’t need to buy every book. I know it is a hoop to jump through and requires a little patience, but one that I need to resign myself to do.
Series. Complete or Catch Up on as many series as I can. You can follow my progress on my Challenges page.
ReRead. I usually don’t allow myself to reread books, because there are so many good ones out their waiting to be read for the first time. I am giving myself permission to do it. I don’t know that I’ll reread enough to blackout my BINGO Reading Challenge card.
Events. I’d like to make it to more blogger and author events. The Kid really does come first and should. But I’d like to stretch myself and get to more gatherings. I only made it to the Kevin Hearne signing, Austin Teen Book Festival and ALA Midwinter last year. I hope to meet up with local bloggers a lot more than I did in 2012. I do have a more reliable car this year, so hopefully it’ll happen. Even the close stuff in the DFW area is still 1-2 hours away.
Happy. Continue to do the things that make me happy. Read the books I enjoy. No pressure. Hang out with like-minded-supportive bloggers.
Buddy Up. I’d like to read more books with others this year. I love read-alongs. Need more of these. But I’d also like to tackle some books with other bloggers or The Kid. Reading is better when it isn’t alone. Our community makes it social. But it is even better, when you are able to discuss and react in the moment of reading the book too.
Time Out. Sometimes I get so caught up in reading, I forget to hang out on the couch and be in the moment with my family. Ya, they may be watching some inane TV show that I could care less about. But I need to meet them where they are doing the leisure things they like to do too. It is OK to put the book down. I also need to put the book down and WORK OUT more this year. My health deserves the same focus and care my books get.
Challenge. Though happy is my focus. I want this to stay a hobby. I already have a job and don’t want another, especially one that doesn’t really pay. I do need to find a way to challenge myself this year. It may be books outside my comfort zone or some classics. Maybe it’ll be the switch to self-hosted. Maybe create and host an event. Who knows? But a challenge none the less.

I love your goals! I totally agree you should see your blogging buddies more and I am not just being self-serving. Of course, I am being self- serving with that one LOL
That goal was meant almost specifically for you
hehe good
I mean good luck with all your goals LOL
These are awesome goals, and I think we both have the same idea to streamline and keep it fun and low stress. I forgot to include read-alongs on my list but I’d love to do that- let’s come up with something this year!
Oooh, Ahhhh… We need to pick either a good discussion book, first in a series or watch for a good ebook deal
Reading books that make me happy is definitely important to me too! Good luck on all of your goals
Here’s my Top Ten!
It seems like a duh goal, but there is a lot of stress to get review books & read the new stuff. *throws stress block*
This year I really want to continue on series because I have way too many going on right now. Good luck on all of your goals!
