There are so many awesome books out there and sometimes you can’t get to them when they are NEW and SHINY. What can I say in a review that hasn’t already been said? Probably nothing. Tada. The “New 2 Me” feature was born. I am simply going to talk about the stuff I really loved and not worry about all the characterization, plot, etc. Again, what do I have to add? But if I read it and enjoyed it, I want to talk about it. WARNING: They might contain SPOILERS.

Stephanie Plum #2
Published 1996 by Penguin
326 pages
Source: Purchased
Rating: LOVED IT

This one’s double the fun!

Bounty hunter Stephanie Pum is still learning the ropes at her cousin Vinnie’s bail bond office, so when she sets out on the trail of Kenny Mancuso – a suspiciously weatlhy, working class Trenton boy who has just shot his best friend – the stakes are higher than ever. That Mancuso is distantly related to vice cop Joe Morelli – who is trying to beat Stephanie to the punch – only makes the hunt more thrilling…

Taking pointers from her bounty hunter pal, Ranger, and using her pistol packing Grandma Mazur as a decoy, Stephanie is soon closing in on her mark. But Morelli and his libido are worthy foes. And a more sinister kind of enemy has made his first move… and his next move might be Stephanie’s last. (Source: Goodreads)

Felicia told me I would love Grandma. She is always right. She is hands down one of my favorite CHARACTERS. I think her picture might be by “character” in the dictionary. She tells it like it is and it is usually quite colorful and a tad embarrassing. Can’t you picture her? Apricot hair, Doc Martin wearing, and Gun Toting. Those bad guys didn’t know what hit them.

Let’s talk almost sexy time with bad-boy Morelli. Even though I was rooting for “frien-emies with benefits” for these two, I am glad that Janet is dragging it out. I’ll have to see if I am still feeling that way, if she takes too long. There isn’t anything wrong with shagging in the back of a Buick, it is a bit nostalgic and I think Stephanie needed it. But I did kind of enjoy the look I pictured on Joe’s face, when she was able to peel herself away. Maybe it was a little vindication for the garage and bakery incidents. I think she deserves better and I have a feeling Morelli has realized it.

  1. Grandma is perhaps the best written character EVER! Seriously that women needs her own spinoff show. I know exactly where Stephanie gets her gumption from and her knack for getting into trouble LOL

  2. I do love this series. Grandma is great, but I also love Lula. As for Morelli, yum. But Ranger is my man.

  3. I need to read this series, I keep reading amazing reviews. Can’t wait to meet Grandma and this Morelli—I am all for prolonged sexual tension in a series. :-) Great review!

  4. Oh 19 books! Whoa. Grandma sounds like an awesome character. Glad you’re loving the series.
