Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge (43)

Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and Amanda @ On A Book Bender share a little more about their week than the books they received.

bookgoonie Recap

bookgoonie’s World

  • STAAR Testing Round 1 complete!!! *crosses fingers*
  • The Car. My freaking door handle is hanging on by a sliver. I am fixing to have to get in Duke’s of Hazzard style OR climb in from the passenger side (I’m too old for this!). This combined with something not quite right with the engine warranted some NEW-TO-ME car shopping. I’ll share a picture next week. The dealer still has it. But it was really sad leaving my 11 year old, 240K miled Toyota Camry. Good Times.

Wood Chuck

  • The Hubs turned in to a Wood Chuck this week. AWESOME! But Texas has yet to experience winter at all. I am dreaming of a fire, wine and a good book. Maybe we’ll get a good taste in time for Christmas.
  • The Plague. Yes, it still lingers. The coughing isn’t as bad, but I have either pulled boob muscles or ripped scare tissue. It feels like BAD electronic shock in the chichis (so not in a good way) every time I cough.

Team Awesome

  • I’m joining Jaye Well’s TEAM AWESOME Street Team. I totally dig her as a person and love Sabina Kane.

bookgoonie Reads

  • READ Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson #2) by Darynda Jones. OMG! Just what the doctor ordered. Love this series.
  • READ Exiled (Protector #1) by M.R. Merrick. I like the elemental magic and the play between Chase and Rayna.
  • CURRENTLY reading Shift (Protector #2) by M.R. Merrick.

bookgoonie Recap

bookgoonie’s World

  • Finally getting my act back together. I had content this week. Still have a lingering cough. 5 Weeks!
  • Doing a little extra duty servicing a few Homebound Students. They have the much STRESSED STAAR End-of-Course Tests next week for World History. Love Testing. Not. Fingers Crossed.
  • It has been a slow reading couple of weeks. I hate those. They bring me down. The book not really flowing and sleepy-headness sabotaged me. I am really mulling over my TBR pile for the next one.

bookgoonie Reads

  • LISTENED to Every Day by David Levithan. This one really makes you think. I love A’s beautiful heart.
  • READ Lamb by Christopher Moore. This one is a fun look at the unrecorded life of Jesus mixed with what we know. Well done, but was hard for me to get in a page flipping rhythm.
  • CURRENTLY Nada. I’m mulling.

bookgoonie Recap

bookgoonie’s World

  • I was very THANKFUL this week. My sister and her family was in town. We didn’t get to spend near enough quality time, but we did get some. We ended our great THANKSGIVING visit with double rainbow. That just doesn’t happen in Texas in November. What does it mean?
  • I was able to introduce our students to the 49 new books I ordered for our library. I searched YouTube for Book Trailers and Author Interviews. At least half of them were checked out before the day was over due to what I was able to put together.

  • Between Sid’s soccer tournament, recovering from the soccer tournament, cleaning, family time, reading and Thanksgiving, I didn’t turn on the computer once. I trolled twitter here and there (from the comfort of my chair and phone & as you can see below I tagged a lot of stuff on twitter), but other than that NADA. Therefore, I had a big old GOOSE EGG to contribute to the blog world this past week. It didn’t really feel good to disengage, but it is what it is.

bookgoonie Reads

  • Finished LISTENING to Frozen Heat by Richard Castle.
  • READ Succubus Shadows and Succubus Revealed by Richelle Mead. I can’t believe it is over with. It made believe in TRUE-FATED LOVE. Warm and Fuzzy Inside.
  • Currently LISTENING to Every Day by David Levithan. This is a great audiobook so far. The language and message is so beautiful.
  • Currently READING Lamb by Christopher Moore. It is on my Unbreaking the Shelves priority list. I also figured it would help with the Christmas Spirit thing.

bookgoonie Recap

bookgoonie’s World

  • Sorry for the blog lame-ness this week. Between lingering sickness (3 WEEKS!) and mom duties, I’ve had no desire to write up my pile of reviews.
  • On the upside, I do have the week off for Thanksgiving. It is my favorite holiday. I love being THANKFUL. I hope I can get back to my usual 99% and get things caught up around here.

bookgoonie Reads

  • Currently LISTENING to Frozen Heat by Richard Castle.
  • READ Succubus Heat by Richelle Mead. So sad, but I like Roman back on the scene.
  • Currently READING Succubus Shadows by Richelle Mead. I am going ALL IN and getting up to date on this series. Also figured if I’m in a review glut, it would be fewer details and worlds to keep up when I finally get to writing.

bookgoonie Recap

bookgoonie’s World

  • SHE’S ALIVE! Well just barely. It has been a week of hacking cough and breathing treatments. So tired. So tired of it.
  • The Kid made a basketball team and started indoor soccer this week. More TAXI service for me. I’m not really complaining. I love watching her play sports. She might not be the best player (I mean there is always someone better, not that she sucks), but she has a natural grace. I love to watch her play. Mommy smiles.
  • I slow played reading this week. Being sick was wearing on me, but I also have 7 books waiting for their review to be written. Urgh! Why do I do this to myself OVER and OVER and OVER again.
  • Oh ya, I VOTED. I would repost the picture, but it is so dreadful. I love voting on Voting Day.

bookgoonie Reads

  • Finished LISTENING to Burned by Ellen Hopkins. I knew tragedy was brewing, but I got a lot more than that. I am anxious to find out what’s next.
  • LISTENED to Crank by Ellen Hopkins. WOW! Through the eyes of an addict, it is hard for me to wrap my brain around it all.
  • Currently LISTENING to Frozen Heat by Richard Castle.
  • Currently READING Succubus Heat by Richelle Mead. I am hopeful something is going to pull Georgina out of her sadness.

bookgoonie Recap

bookgoonie’s World

  • This week I was a victim of THE PLAGUE. I have not had a good night sleep since Monday. I am to the hard core couphing phase. Head in Vice. Ab Workout. Do a need a feminine napkin. Miserable. I have not found the magic medicinal combination. The stuff that used to work I can’t find any more. They probably realized it was pure opium or something.

bookgoonie Reads

  • READ The Divinders by Libba Bray. I nice romp through the Roaring 20s with a uber-creepy serial killer. Review 11/5
  • READ The Geek Job by Eve Langlais with Ash @ Smash Attack Reads. Review TBD
  • READ Easy by Tammara Webber. New Adult. Lucas had me from page 1. Review 11/12
  • Finished READING Enemies and Playmates by Darcia Helle. This was a surprise read. Thought it was erotica and I got a real story. Cover and Title are very misleading. Review 11/15
  • CURRENTLY READING Succubus Dreams by Richelle Mead. I needed some Georgina in my life. But everyone says this one is a tear jerker. I’m not sure I want to cry.
  • CURRENTLY still LISTENING TO: Burned by Ellen Hopkins. I only have 30 minutes left (and I’ll finish it today), but I am afraid of what is going to happen.

bookgoonie Recap

bookgoonie’s World

  • I survived a week of testing and general squirreliness.
  • We had our annual Homeroom Halloween Face-Off on Friday. Since we are an alternative school without the traditional teams and clubs, we try to build community. We had a Chili Cook-Off, Speed Puzzle, Ping-Pong Tournament, Chicken Toss, Toilet Paper Relay and so on. I am the planner and therefore CRAZED before, during and EXHAUSTED after. The FORCE, my Homeroom, came in last. It was so sad.
  • I promised you a Vlog and I failed this week. One, I can’t really think of what of interest I could say. Two, I was super duper lazy yesterday and it would take way too long construct today. C’est la vie.

bookgoonie Reads

  • Finally READ The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. I am no longer a Gaiman virgin. It feels good. It is has been on my shelf for years. Review 10/29.
  • READ I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga. Loved it. It is so different from anything YA out there. Mr. Lyga knows a whole lot about serial killers. We should keep an eye on him. Review 10/31
  • I READ a few novellas: Dead and Gone by Jonathan Maberry. He introduces us three new characters. I hope they run into Benny and his gang. Necromancer by Lish McBride was an interesting tale of Death and Waffles. All the Time in the World–A Grimm Prequel by Shiloh Walker gave me a peek into an interesting fallen FBI-ish series. Maybe Reviews 10/30
  • CURRENTLY READING: The Diviners by Libba Bray and Enemies and Playmates by Darcia Helle. This cover is very misleading so far to the story.
  • CURRENTLY LISTENING TO: Burned by Ellen Hopkins. This is my first Hopkins read and it so sad and powerful.
